The policy of the Texas Department of Transportation is to provide the public with the fullest possible access to public information.

Informal questions, media inquiries, requests for publications, and general inquiries about the department should be directed to the Public Information Office Mail.

If you wish to make a formal request under the Texas Public Information Act, you must follow the following procedures. Otherwise, TxDOT will be under no legal obligation to respond.

• All open records requests must include the requestor's name, address and telephone number, along with a clear description of the records you are requesting.
  
• A written request may be faxed, mailed, or delivered in person. Any request may be addressed to the Executive Director, the Director of the Public Information Office, or the General Counsel. In addition, you may address a request to the District Engineer, Division Director, or Office Director who has the information you are requesting.
